Jamaican tourism entrepreneur and CEO of Asterix Tourism Services Limited, Mr. Roy Page, has arrived in Ghana to advance collaboration between Jamaica and Africa in tourism and community development.
Speaking in an interview upon his arrival at the Accra International Airport on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Mr. Page said his visit will focus on launching community-based business initiatives.
According to him, while his delegation will be undertaking several business engagements, the main focus is on the community concept. On what tourism can do to bridge Ghana and the Caribbean, Mr. Page said tourism is just one avenue, stressing that relationship building is key.
“Tourism is one avenue, but I think relationship is one of the keys, and that’s what we want to do: build relationship between Jamaica and Ghana, and also in terms of businesses, because we believe that persons must learn to earn and be self-sufficient,” he explained.
Mr. Page said they will visit several sites, but their main focus will be on local communities. “We’ll be visiting all of them, but I really want to focus a lot more in the communities because I believe that’s where we need to grow. Our young people need to grow. Our women need to grow, and that’s what we want to focus on a lot,” he noted.
Prince Ambassador Dr. Tengol K. Kplemani, Ambassador for Africa for the Countrystyle Community Tourism Network (CCTN) and its Villages as Businesses (VAB) initiative, has explained that Roy will explore opportunities to develop rural communities into tourism hubs that will be economically beneficial to the locals.
Dr. Kplemani added that the visit also seeks to create a music and entertainment bridge between Ghana and the Caribbean, starting with Jamaica. “Tourism goes with music, and that is why we have the Musicians Union President here with us. We are looking at creating an economic and creative bridge between Ghana and the Caribbean,” he said.
He noted that Senior Architect Jason Stone, who is part of the delegation, will also look at Ghana’s architectural identity and how to modernise it while preserving heritage.
Dr. Kplemani is the Supreme Convener of the Sister Kingdom Network, which seeks to formalise bilateral and multilateral agreements between kingdoms and chiefdoms across Africa and cultural communities in the diaspora.
