Here at Good Housekeeping, we've talked a lot about comfy trousers for the airport, and for good reason: a long journey calls for something soft, easy to move in and forgiving after a few hours in an especially cramped seat. But comfort doesn’t have to mean reaching for the same shapeless pair every time. A few thoughtful details can make an off duty staple feel much more polished, and side stripes are a particularly chic way to give joggers a little extra definition - a feature we've seen in sporty spades.
This time, though, the look has turned even more elevated thanks to the high street, particularly M&S, as proven by their pair of Ponte Side Stripe Drawstring Wide Leg Joggers.

In sleek midnight navy, they come with a wide leg cut and a sporty stripe down each side, giving them the feel of a smart track trouser while keeping the cosy comfort of a jogger. The smooth ponte fabric has stretch, too, which is great alongside the stretchy waist band. Not only that, but the waistband is high rise, which is great news if you're on the hunt for something especially flattering.

For the journey, I’d wear them with a fluffy knit, a roomy coat and trainers, then swap the trainers for loafers when you arrive. Of course, they're not just brilliant for travel, they can easily be dressed up for more formal occasions: think a They’d also work with a simple white T shirt and a blazer for an easy outfit that still looks considered. Just add loafers and you're good to go.
Of course, with the majority of M&S pieces, there's no need to worry when it comes to leg length. Available in sizes 6 to 22, with extra short, short, regular and long leg lengths, you'll be able to find the perfect fit that's (almost) tailored to you. Shop the black version below, if navy isn't exactly your preferred style.
