Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has called on the public to broaden their financial portfolios from just savings and loans in the banks to services provided by other financial institutions.
The Emir stated this at the opening ceremony of the UTL Kano office and the launching of UTLAM Halal Fund.
“I will like to urge everyone of us to consider broadening our financial portfolios from just savings and loan accounts, to insurance products, exploiting services that are offered by institutions like these.
“It is absolutely important for each and everyone of us, not just for our families, but for those who wish to leave behind a legacy,” the Emir stated.
He explained that there are times when disasters like fire outbreak, which had serially wrecked markets in Kano, theft, or sabotage have grossly affected and close down individual businesses due to lack of involvement in financial services that can save them and bring them back to their feet.
The Emir mentioned that there are many products within the financial services offered that are Halal and can be exploited by the business people in the state.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of UTL, Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman, said the UTL, while launching its Kano office, has also come with the Ultimate Halal Fund, that will provide Shari’a compliant services to the people both at private and at public levels.
“We are not just opening an office in Kano to add to our number of offices, we are in Kano to bring our services to the doorsteps of the people of Kano.
“We have launched a Shari’a compliant service to our Kano customers. Our services have been scrutinised and approved by the Shari’a advisory board,” he stated.
He explained that there are beneficial services that manage trust, will, and other investment opportunities that are Shari’a compliant.
