Happy Dasara,
Indian investors are getting direct access to Wall Street. In a big move to capture the surging demand for global diversification, retail stockbroking giants Angel One and Zerodha are officially expanding access to US equities. Angel One has already kicked off a phased rollout on its app by allowing select users to trade US-listed stocks and ETFs right alongside their Indian holdings, with a full-scale launch coming by mid-November.
While opening a trading account takes minutes in India, most retail traders aren’t confident about their investments. This gap was the focus of Dale Vaz’s keynote at TechSparks 2026. The co-founder and CEO of fintech company Sahi argued that the last decade of fintech solved the issue of access, but not outcomes. Vaz described how Sahi’s Kyro platform helps investors make decisions using AI.
Speaking of AI, the next edge in India’s tech landscape is how effectively companies use AI to solve specific problems, understand customers and build products that are difficult to replicate.
At the 17th edition of TechSparks last week, Nitin Jain of ShareChat and Moj, Ajit Narayanan of Angel One, Srividhya Srinivasan of Amagi and Ankit Maheshwari of Innovaccer discussed how Indian technology companies can remain competitive in an AI-driven market.

India’s private defence technology industry is at an inflection point. From faster procurement to direct engagement with the armed forces, Operation Sindoor has created fresh opportunities for domestic companies developing critical military technologies.
Key takeaways:
- Priyanka Singhal, Founder and CEO of Ammunic Systems, said at TechSparks 2026 that Ammunic supplied loitering munitions and gravity-drop bombs during Operation Sindoor, working with drone platform partners to integrate its weapons into systems used in the operation.
- Radhika P of Pinaka Aerospace said her company had contributed to the indigenisation of missile systems that were deployed during the operation.
- According to the speakers, critical technologies for the next decade include fully autonomous systems (including ground and air robotics), advanced materials R&D for stealth/durability, and tri-service platform integration.

NCW report calls for overhaul of India’s childcare framework

India’s National Commission for Women (NCW) has submitted a groundbreaking report proposing a total overhaul of the country's maternity and childcare frameworks to ensure having a child doesn't derail a woman's career. Addressing the gap where 26 weeks of maternity leave ends but long-term parenting begins, the 37 recommendations advocate shifting childcare from a solo maternal burden to a shared, societal responsibility.
Key takeaways:
- To address post-maternity dropouts, the report recommends launching a National Childcare Infrastructure Mission targeting 5 lakh safe, affordable crèche seats by 2030, including cluster-based options for small businesses.
- The commission has recommended setting up a dedicated Maternity and Childcare Fund, supported by the government and employers, to help more women access these benefits.
- The NCW calls for equal leave for adoptive and commissioning mothers, mandated lactation facilities, and strict legal safeguards to prevent maternity breaks from penalizing women’s promotions and career growth.

- Streaming issues: Investors are hoping for insights on how streaming giant Netflix plans to sustain its growth when it reports its third-quarter earnings this week. As creator-led videos chip away the premium platform’s profits, it is seeing signs of user fatigue.
