A cancer screening camp was organised for women at the Community Health Services of BHEL Tiruchi’s Main Hospital on Wednesday as part of Pink October activities to promote breast cancer prevention, early detection, and research.
In his inaugural address, K. Ashok, executive director, BHEL Tiruchi Complex, said that Pink October was a critical call to action to raise awareness of breast cancer. Women must prioritise their health and utilise the camp’s screening programme as early detection could improve survival rates.
He also inaugurated a poster exhibition by the hospital’s paramedical staff on cancer awareness and felicitated a few cancer survivors.
Family members of BHEL employees underwent screening for breast, cervical and oral cancer as part of the camp.
Earlier in the day, the Main Hospital’s doctors, nursing and paramedical staff took out an awareness rally.
A separate screening camp would be organised on Thursday for the benefit of women employees on the factory premises.
