Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A young man who did not have a driving licence was killed in a road accident in Furkat district, Ferghana region, after losing control of his car at high speed on a sharp bend.
According to the Traffic Safety Service, traffic patrol officers in Kokand had previously warned the driver against driving without a licence and taken legally prescribed measures over his violations. However, he subsequently got behind the wheel again.
The crash occurred on a sharp bend in Furkat district. The car first struck a warning post before hitting a concrete support structure and a tree, the service said.
A passenger in the vehicle said the car was travelling at more than 100 km/h. According to his account, the driver lost control while overtaking on the bend and collided with a concrete structure before the vehicle struck a post.
The impact threw the passenger through the windscreen and several metres away from the car. When he regained consciousness, he found that the driver was showing no signs of life.
In a video released about the incident, Traffic Safety Service officers also drew attention to a device installed in the vehicle that allowed its state registration plate to be concealed.
The Traffic Safety Service urged drivers to observe speed limits, avoid nighttime racing and never drive without a valid driving licence.
The service also advised parents to monitor their children's behaviour and prevent them from driving without the required documents.
