GS Retail (007070) said on the 13th that it will showcase and sell premium traditional Korean liquors recommended by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), along with winners of the agency's national liquor competition, through Wine25Plus, its smart-order liquor service.
The sales follow a business agreement on cooperation in traditional liquors and local partnerships that GS Retail signed with aT on the 8th. Under the deal, the two sides agreed to promote consumption of traditional liquors and widen sales channels for regional breweries.
GS Retail plans to select competitive products based on how the traditional liquors introduced on Wine25Plus perform. The chosen items will also be sold at offline stores including GS25 convenience stores and GS The Fresh supermarkets.
The two sides will also run joint marketing, including seasonal traditional liquor promotions and co-branded publicity campaigns. GS Retail will operate a dedicated traditional liquor section on Wine25Plus this month and open a visiting-brewery corner in November. At the end of the year, it will roll out joint promotions such as a home party package featuring traditional liquors. The company will also launch a local brand campaign highlighting regional breweries and the distinctive qualities of their liquors, in conjunction with aT's visiting-brewery program.
"We will continue to use GS Retail's online and offline distribution networks to strengthen cooperation with regional breweries, and we will raise the competitiveness of our platform by offering differentiated traditional liquor products and content," said Jeon Jin-hyuk, head of GS Retail's O4O division.
