Nvidia $NVDA plans to invest in four German startups, CEO Jensen Huang announced Monday at the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin.
The companies are Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo and Reflex Aerospace. The investments make up a portion of Nvidia's nearly $10 billion pledge to European businesses, universities and research institutes. Nvidia gave no figures for the planned investments, according to CNBC.
Agile Robots, based in Munich, builds robots powered by AI, ranging from robotic arms to the Agile ONE humanoid, for use in manufacturing, logistics and healthcare. Avelios Medical, also based in Munich, develops a hospital information system that integrates AI into clinical and administrative workflows. Mirelo develops AI models that produce audio for video, including effects, spoken voice and music. Reflex Aerospace, based in Berlin, designs and builds satellites.
Nvidia said it has already invested in German companies including n8n, Neura Robotics and Black Forest Labs.
On Monday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space signed a Joint Declaration of Intent with Nvidia, the company said. The declaration sets out an agreement to work on a joint initiative to advance AI models for physical AI. It also formalizes Nvidia's collaboration with the government and its Industry 4.0 Platform, whose members come from political offices, the business world, research bodies and trade groups.
Merz and Huang discussed Germany's AI plans on stage at Kraftwerk, a former power station in Berlin. Merz urged leaders of the country's small and medium-sized businesses, known as the Mittelstand, to put their data to use.
"Please open your doors for AI to make use of your data," Merz said, according to CNBC. "This is a real secret and a real advantage for Germany to make use of all the data which is already available in our companies."
Huang said Germany's manufacturing expertise sets its economy apart and that AI will amplify it. "AI can only augment your capability, it will not replace your capability," Huang said, according to CNBC. "Take advantage of the technology. It's a new instrument."
Siemens announced a partnership with Nvidia on AI-driven autonomous factories and showed new AI tools at its factory in Erlangen. Siemens said virtual production ramp-up could shrink engineering effort by as much as 85%, while agent-based scheduling of manufacturing might lower expenses by up to 20%.
Huang announced funding for four French startups last week in Paris. That event was the first stop on a tour that also includes London and Berlin. The French companies are Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment and Entalpic.
Huang is slated to give the keynote on Wednesday in Berlin, according to CNBC.
