The European Union is preparing additional funding for Ukrainian weapons, including drones and missiles, while backing a proposal to halt attacks on energy infrastructure in both Ukraine and Russia.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the planned funding following a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, confirming that Brussels would provide additional support for weapons this week.

The announcement comes as Zelensky calls for a limited ceasefire targeting energy infrastructure, seeking to stop attacks on facilities in both countries.
Von der Leyen backed the proposal and accused Moscow of targeting civilians, reinforcing the EU’s position on the conflict while maintaining its commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s military capabilities.
EU leaders are also expected to discuss Ukraine’s financing requirements for 2027 and further progress towards the country’s potential membership of the bloc.
The developments highlight the European Union’s dual approach of supporting efforts to reduce attacks on critical energy infrastructure while continuing to provide military and financial assistance to Kyiv.
