Speaking on the Iko Nini podcast on Monday, October 19, the NTV presenter recalled a date that she described as thoroughly underwhelming.
Why did Laura Mbatha walk out on date?
The evening had started with dinner before the two headed to a movie, but by the time the lights went down, Laura had already mentally checked out.
Rather than sit through a film she had no interest in, she told her date she would be back shortly and simply walked out of the cinema.
She then jumped on a boda boda and headed straight to Westlands, where her friends were waiting.
"I saw no need to explain myself. I don't know where he went to. He called me for a while saying he had my bag," she said, barely suppressing a laugh.
The handbag in question, it turned out, contained virtually nothing of value. Laura explained that her real essentials, keys, money and other items, are stored in her pockets. The bag, she said, is purely decorative.
"My handbag usually has nothing. I put items in my pockets and carry the handbag for aesthetics," she told the host.
As for the date himself, he kept calling persistently after she disappeared, citing the bag as a reason for her to return. Laura was unmoved.
"He should have read the signs," she said plainly, as both she and the host dissolved into laughter.

What did Laura Mbatha say about relationships?
In other news, Laura sparked debate after sharing her views on dating, separation and changing relationships.
She explained that couples should accept that relationships may end when partners grow apart, rather than remain together out of obligation.
Laura also stressed that parents who separate should protect their children from conflict and prioritise their well-being.
