A sitting district council member was caught driving while intoxicated, police said.
Seoul's Gangseo Police Station said on the 14th that it had booked without detention a Gangseo District council member, surnamed Kim, on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act. Kim is accused of driving after drinking at around 10:15 p.m. the previous day.
Police responded to a report that a driver was asleep on the road and found Kim asleep in the driver's seat. Kim's blood alcohol concentration at the time was 0.08% or higher, the threshold for license revocation, according to police.
Police plan to question Kim to determine the exact circumstances of the drunk driving.
