TUMPAT: The family of a 35-year-old Customs officer who was allegedly murdered by her husband at their home in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport quarters yesterday, were left stunned when the suspect told them she was dead.
The victim's elder brother, Hazwan Ibrahim, 38, said the suspect told him his youngest sister, Nor Hazwani Ibrahim, had died and that he would surrender to police.
He said the suspect had called him about 7.30pm yesterday and asked him to be a witness to their divorce.
When he returned the call at 10pm, the suspect told him Nor Hazwani was dead.
He was speaking to reporters at his home in Kampung Telaga Lanas here today.
Police confirmed yesterday that Nor Hazwani was found murdered at the KLIA quarters in Jalan Kuarters KLIA in Nilai.
Nor Hazwan said his youngest sister had filed for divorce in September and was scheduled to attend a hearing at the Tumpat Syariah Court on Nov 3.
He said he had advised his sister and her husband to maintain an amicable relationship despite their marital problems.
"I understood that they were in the process of getting a divorce after my sister filed the application in September," he said.
Hazwan said he last met Nor Hazwani, the youngest of nine siblings, at her home yesterday before returning to Kelantan.
He said the couple had two daughters, aged 5 and 6, who had yet to be informed of their mother's death.
The family expects the victim's body to be brought back to Kelantan tomorrow after the post-mortem examination is completed.
It was reported that a female officer from the Customs Department was found murdered at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) quarters, with her husband named as the suspect.
Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed that the police received information regarding the incident around 8.30pm.
