Not much has been going right for the Washington Commanders against the San Francisco 49ers. After settling for a field goal on their first drive and turning it over on downs on the second while allowing the 49ers to score two touchdowns, the Commanders were down 13-3 in the second quarter.
San Francisco looked like it was on the verge of another touchdown when K’Lavon Chaisson delivered a textbook “peanut punch” to 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, who then fumbled the ball. Frankie Luvu jumped on top of it, giving the ball back to the Commanders in the game’s first turnover.

Washington was not able to capitalize on the turnover. After getting a holding penalty on first down, quarterback Jayden Daniels was sacked to make it second and 22. On third and long, they gained only five yards and had to punt back to San Francisco.
The 49ers would score again just before halftime. It was a frustrating first half for the Commanders, who head into halftime down 20-3.
