October the 25th, 2026 – Croatia is set to introduce a brand new digital customs system as of November the 1st this year, with the hope of making crossing the border more efficient.
As of the 1st of November 2026, the Customs Administration is introducing a new digital service called eObračun of customs duties in passenger traffic (eODPP). Index reports that this brand new service is intended for passengers who bring goods into Croatia, i.e. the EU, on which import duties are payable, and its aim is to facilitate and speed up border crossing.
how it works…
Via the new application, passengers will be able to check in advance whether there is an obligation to pay duties on the goods they are bringing in their personal luggage. The service also enables them to declare goods whose value or quantity exceeds the permitted limits and to pay online the customs duties and taxes calculated on the basis of the declaration. Goods can be declared up to five days, i.e. 120 hours, before the planned arrival at one of the international border crossings within the territory of Croatia.
Upon arrival at the border, a customs officer will check the declaration and the goods in a short procedure. If no irregularities are found, the import procedure will be quickly completed. The Customs Administration states that the application is designed to be intuitive, and the data-entry procedure for calculating duties has five steps.
no registration required
The brand new Croatian digital customs service will be available to all passengers entering the EU via Croatian road, railway, air and maritime border crossings. No registration is required to use it. The system is adapted for computers, smartphones and tablets, and will be available from the 1st of November 2026 here.
