Microsoft has introduced the Xbox Nano Controller, a compact gaming controller designed for younger players, people with smaller hands, and anyone looking for a more portable option.
The lightweight controller keeps the standard Xbox button layout while reducing the overall size, making it easier to carry when traveling, visiting friends, or gaming away from a primary setup.
Xbox Nano Controller Specifications and Features
The Xbox Nano Controller measures a little over 5 inches long and weighs just 3.5 ounces, or around 99 grams, making it Microsoft’s smallest controller to date.
Despite its smaller design, the controller retains all 18 standard gameplay inputs found on traditional Xbox controllers.
It also includes a rechargeable battery and a programmable Action Button. Users can assign the button to frequently used functions such as taking screenshots or recording gameplay.
The controller supports both Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity. It can connect to compatible Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, iOS and Android devices, as well as supported smart TVs.
Its compact design also makes it suitable for local multiplayer gaming. Microsoft highlighted titles such as Minecraft Dungeons II, which supports cooperative play for up to four players.
Price and Availability
The Xbox Nano Controller is priced at $49.99 in the US and is available for preorder through Microsoft’s official website.
Microsoft says the controller will launch in November 2026 in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, China, Japan and several countries across Europe and Latin America.
Additional regions will follow, although pricing and availability may vary by market. Microsoft has not announced a launch date for every region.
Microsoft Is Also Offering Holiday Bundles
Microsoft is offering holiday promotions in the US through partnerships with Samsung and Meta.
Buyers of eligible Samsung TVs can receive an Xbox Nano Controller along with two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for new subscribers.
A similar bundle is also available with eligible Meta Quest headsets.
