The Customs Area Controller for the Murtala Muhammed Area Command (MMAC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Godwin Otunla, says the command generated N165.79 billion between January and October 8, 2026.
Mr Otunla disclosed this during an interview on Wednesday in Lagos.
He said that the command recorded 53,164 declarations within the period, representing 57.4 per cent of its N289.79 billion annual revenue target.
According to him, on October 8, the command generated N6.2 billion from 240 declarations against a daily target of N1.16 billion.
He said the figure represented 533.1 per cent of the daily target, describing the performance as unprecedented in the command’s recent revenue history.
Mr Otunla said between October 5 and October 8, the command generated N8.82 billion from 1,252 declarations as against a target of N5.82 billion.
He said the weekly performance translated to 151.5 per cent achievement, driven by enhanced compliance and deployment of the e-Customs platform.
For October, the controller said the command generated N9.68 billion from 1,651 declarations, representing 40.3 per cent of its monthly target.
He attributed the improved performance to discipline, integrity and the commitment of officers to blocking revenue leakages.
“We will sustain transparency, deploy technology, and ensure no declaration escapes proper assessment,” Mr Otunla said.
He also urged stakeholders to maintain compliance.
He commended officers and stakeholders for their cooperation and assured that the command would surpass its annual target before year-end.
