After outing its Pixel 7 series in recent weeks, Google has just quietly released the Pixel 9 series to its Certified Refurbished program with prices starting at $499.
Released in 2024, the Pixel 9 series introduced the updated design language we see today in Google Pixel phones, as well as continuing to improve the Tensor chipset inside. This generation also saw new camera sensors and the introduction of two Pro-tier devices – Pixel 9 Pro as a smaller 6.3-inch device, and Pixel 9 Pro XL as a bigger 6.8-inch device.
Pricing originally started at $799, but is now down to $499 as a part of Google’s Certified Refurbished program.
Google kicked off this program in late 2024 and has since shuffled around its offerings to include newer devices and remove ones that are outdated and nearing their end-of-life status for software updates. The most recent removal, as mentioned, was the Pixel 7 series in early September 2026.
Today sees Google releasing the Pixel 9 series (minus the Fold) to its Certified Refurbished portal on the Google Store.
- Pixel 9: $499 (Obsidian)
- Pixel 9 Pro: $649 (Obsidian & Hazel)
- Pixel 9 Pro XL: $699 (Obsidian & Hazel)
The base Pixel 9 is currently out of stock, but Pro and Pro XL configurations are available. Google is also throwing in a 6-month AI Plus subscription for buyers of these refurbished Pixel 9 devices:

Google’s Certified Refurbished program for Pixel phones includes a “multi-point test,” a one-year warranty, repairs using authentic Google parts, and a fully unlocked device capable of using any carrier.
