SHAH ALAM: Police are tracking down a man suspected of posing as an aide-de-camp (ADC) to the Raja Muda of Selangor and using the royal's photograph to deceive people in property and vehicle transactions.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said an investigation was launched following a police report lodged by the Sultan of Selangor's Security Control Office at Istana Mestika on Oct 15.
He said the report concerned a post on Threads by an account holder using the profile name "dwan_hamid".
"The post claimed that a man had been posing as an ADC to the Raja Muda of Selangor and using His Royal Highness' photograph to deceive members of the public in transactions involving the purchase of houses and vehicles.
"The suspect is also believed to have collected money from members of the public," he said in a statement today.
Shazeli said police had opened an investigation paper under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and were working to trace the suspect.
Referring to a statement issued by the Istana Alam Shah Office in Klang yesterday (Oct 18), Shazeli said the palace viewed the matter seriously and had entrusted police with conducting a thorough, fair and transparent investigation.
"The palace has also stressed that no individual will be protected if found to be involved in the case," he said.
Shazeli advised the public to verify information through official channels before making financial transactions.
