Things ended in a less than ideal fashion for Alabama as Georgia notched an SEC victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Tempers flared on the field as Alabama cornerback Dijon Lee Jr. had a costly personal foul late in the game to keep Georgia’s hopes alive.
The tension carried over into the stands. A new video emerged showing one fan’s disturbing behavior towards a Georgia player.
The clip shows a fan slapping the helmet of Georgia linebacker Raylen Wilson as the person shoves the defender in the helmet seconds later.
“VERY odd moment where an Alabama fan shoved Georgia linebacker Raylen Wilson in the helmet after the game,” Atlanta 11 News’ Reggie Chatman Jr. noted while posting a video of the incident in an October 10, message on X.
“Don’t love seeing stuff like this from fans @WilsonRaylen.”
Chatman posted a follow-up to his original messaging noting that Wilson initially believed the person was a Georgia fan.
“I thought dude was a UGA fan tried to dap em up,” Wilson responded to the incident on Instagram.
Here’s a look at the alarming video of the fan’s behavior towards Wilson.
Alabama HC Kalen DeBoer on Dijon Lee’s Personal Foul vs. Georgia: ‘Would Have Never Expected That to Happen’
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer has no control over fan behavior but expressed disappointment in the sequence of events at the end of the game. Bama is left searching for answers after narrowly losing 20-17 to Georgia.
“We preach emotional maturity and I really feel strong that across the board we had that with our team and would have never expected that to happen,” DeBoer said of Lee’s personal foul, per Yahoo Sports. “You’ve got to give yourself a chance. … You’re out there giving everything you’ve got, you’ve just got to give yourself a chance.
“Emotional maturity is what it comes down to and we’ve been pretty good at that going on the last two years and obviously, moment comes up like we had just now, we didn’t respond the right way.”
Georgia HC Kirby Smart on Alabama QB Keelon Russell: ‘There’s No Containing Russell’
The game may not have gone Alabama’s way, but quarterback Keelon Russell earned the respect of Georgia. Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart is not looking forward to facing Russell in the SEC for the foreseeable future.
“There’s no containing Russell,” Smart said of Russell, per AL.com. “That kid is an elite athlete and an elite player.
“Hopefully we affected him some tonight. He didn’t have some of the numbers he’s had, but he’s a really good football player and he’s going to be hell on this league for two years.”
