Russia resumes diesel fuel supplies to Uzbekistan in September

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan resumed imports of Russian diesel fuel in September 2026 after a month-long pause, purchasing around 26,000 tonnes, according to data published by the Geostatistics Telegram channel.

Total Russian diesel fuel deliveries to Central Asian countries and Mongolia reached 427,000 tonnes in September, compared with 371,000 tonnes in August, an increase of approximately 15.1%.

Mongolia was the largest buyer, receiving around 220,000 tonnes, up from 215,000 tonnes a month earlier. Kazakhstan imported 77,000 tonnes, compared with 28,000 tonnes in August.

Deliveries to Kyrgyzstan amounted to 67,000 tonnes, down from 72,000 tonnes, while Tajikistan received 38,000 tonnes, compared with more than 56,000 tonnes a month earlier.

No Russian diesel fuel was delivered to Uzbekistan in August. In September, the country rejoined the list of recipients of the petroleum product within regional trade.

According to Reuters, the increase in exports is linked to an oversupply of diesel fuel on the Russian market and falling prices.

However, the published data do not specify the value of supplies to Uzbekistan, the importing companies or the terms of the contracts signed.

The reported total volume of Russian diesel fuel deliveries to Central Asian countries reached 3 million tonnes in January–September 2026.

The September total cited above includes Mongolia, which is geographically outside Central Asia.

Across the four countries in the region—Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan—combined imports of Russian diesel fuel amounted to approximately 208,000 tonnes.
