SEBERANG JAYA: An image purportedly showing a crocodile in a drain outside Seberang Jaya Hospital has gone viral, prompting calls for an investigation into its authenticity.
Seberang Jaya assemblyman Izhar Shah Arif Shah said he had alerted the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) and the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) after receiving the information.
"At the same time, some concerned individuals have helped check whether the image is genuine or generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
"Genuine or otherwise, I have brought the matter to the attention of both agencies and proposed an investigation to establish the facts and determine the appropriate action.
"Either way, public safety remains a priority," he said in a Facebook post.
The authenticity of the image has yet to be established.
The New Straits Times has reached out to the state Perhilitan office for comments.
