Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan has assured to look into the demand for bus facility by the students of Pondicherry University’s Community College situated at Lawspet in Puducherry.
Addressing the students on the foundation day of the college on Friday, the Lt. Governor said more than half of the students studying in the college are from rural areas. “The students from the villages have to change at least three buses to reach the college. We understand your commuting problems. The government is exploring ways to provide bus facility for the students,” the Lt. Governor said.
Complimenting the academic activities of the college, Mr. Kailashnathan said he was happy to note that most of the students from the college were getting placed on completion of their courses. “Many of them are first generation learners. It is very encouraging to see that 80% of the students pursuing courses in the Community College are getting placements,” the Lt. Governor said.
The Lt. Governor also inaugurated the new lecture hall complex constructed at a cost of around ₹4 crore at the college. Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor P. Prakash Babu was present.
