Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf says domestic cricket has helped him improve his bowling and deliver longer spells. Speaking to reporters in Lahore, he also described Pakistan’s performance in the recent tri-series as encouraging. Rauf believes the team must prepare for increasingly high-scoring matches ahead of the upcoming World Cup. He said Pakistan may need to score around 350 runs and then defend the total.
“With 400-run totals being posted in cricket these days, we will need to aim for a score of 350 and then defend it in the World Cup,” Rauf said. He added that Pakistan’s bowling unit showed encouraging signs during the tri-series. The fast bowlers’ performances offered positive indications as the team continues its preparations. However, Rauf acknowledged the challenge posed by modern batting standards.

Rauf also credited domestic cricket with strengthening his ability to bowl for longer periods. He said the experience had benefited him and helped develop his bowling. Regular participation in the longer format can also provide fast bowlers with valuable match practice. His remarks highlighted the importance of domestic competitions in preparing players for international cricket.
The pacer praised his long-standing partnership with Shaheen Shah Afridi, saying the two bowlers continued to support each other. He also appreciated bowling coach Shaun Tait for keeping the players relaxed. Rauf addressed questions about bowlers conceding sixes, noting that such experiences were common across the game. He indicated that being hit for boundaries was not an issue unique to him.

Rauf also expressed his willingness to play red-ball cricket if Pakistan required his services. His comments suggest he remains open to contributing in the longer format alongside his limited-overs commitments. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s bowling attack will need to maintain consistency as the team prepares for the World Cup. The ability to contain high-scoring opponents could prove crucial in the tournament.
