According to the readers of the Enquirer, the B.O.B. — the Best of Battle Creek among middle hitters by the Monday deadline - is Leighton Birmingham of Lakeview, who had finished first with 49% of the vote. Jessa Akers of Harper Creek was second.

Why she is on the list: Leighton Birmingham is a defensive wall for Lakeview, who gets a hand on almost every ball that comes over the net. No matter what play is called, she steps up without hesitation and runs it with maximum speed and power.
