The convoy of Muhammad Chiroma Nalabawa, the All Progressives Congress lawmaker representing Gezawa/Gabasawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was reportedly attacked by angry youths in Garuruwa, Gabasawa Local Government Area of Kano State, on Saturday.
The incident occurred during a campaign-related visit by the federal lawmaker to the community, according to reports.
The youths reportedly pelted the convoy with objects while protesting what they described as the lawmaker’s failure to address the challenges facing the community.
Witnesses said the protesters, who spoke in the local dialect, accused the lawmaker of neglecting the area and failing to provide basic amenities or improve living conditions despite his time in office.
A video of the incident circulating on social media showed a group of youths marching along a major road in the community. Some of them were seen carrying long wooden sticks and clubs as tension escalated.
The incident was brought to public attention by an X user, Bakatsine (@DanKatsina), who shared a video of the scene on Saturday.
The reported attack highlights growing tensions between elected representatives and constituents over demands for accountability, infrastructure and improved living conditions.
However, details surrounding the incident remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Neither Nalabawa nor the Kano State Police Command had issued an official statement on the incident. It was also unclear whether anyone was injured or if any arrests had been made.
