A 30-year-old Greater Toronto Area man is facing a slew of drug charges in the Niagara Region after police said more than $200,000 worth of illegal narcotics were seized.
Niagara Regional Police said detectives with its Street Crime Unit along with investigators with the Opioid Enforcement and Education Unit began an investigation this month into drug trafficking in Niagara Falls.
Police said a suspect was identified and arrested Tuesday, adding he was from the GTA but took up temporary residency in Niagara Falls.
A search warrant was obtained by detectives for a residence in the Zimmerman Ave. and Queen St. area of the city as well as a vehicle belonging to the accused, cops said.
Drugs, watch and cash seized
Following a search of the home and vehicle, police said investigators seized 811.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 710.1 grams of suspected cocaine, 540.9 grams of suspected fentanyl, 70 tablets of suspected hydromorphone, 32 tablets of suspected oxycodone, 160 tablets of suspected dextroamphetamine, $31,580 in cash, a Rolex watch, and other property associated with drug trafficking.
Anthony Cristobal was charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 as well as multiple drug possession for the purposes of trafficking offences involving opioid fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, opioid hydromorphone and opioid oxycodone.
