Lainey Wilson gave a subtle sartorial nod to the late Dolly Parton on Wednesday night at the “CMA Presents I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton” event held at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for Performing Arts in Nashville.
The Grammy Award-winning singer incorporated Parton’s favorite symbol into her look, wearing a long-sleeve duster jacket with a butterfly wing pattern. Cast in shades of fuchsia, white, black and a hint of emerald green, the garment was designed with long sleeves, a scarf and mostly open-front placket.
Save for gathered material at the bust, the flowing duster jacket was certainly the hero piece of Wilson’s style, which also included her signature Western-style elements like flared black pants with lace-up sides, a statement belt and black bolo tie with a cowgirl hat, also in black.
Wilson accessorized with a few statement jewelry pieces, including turquoise and black rings and dangle earrings for the final touch.
Throughout her life, Parton had an affinity for butterflies and what they symbolized, so much so that she recorded a 2025 song with Zac Brown band called “Butterfly.” In 1974, Parton released an album called “Love Is Like a Butterfly,” with her hit single of the same name on the album.
Parton’s love of butterflies stretched for decades and extended beyond her music to her fashion and collaborations. In April 2026, the “Jolene” singer collaborated with Good American for a series of styles inspired by the beloved songstress and philanthropist.
Among the styles featured throughout the collaboration, a few pieces nodded to Parton’s love of butterflies, including the Good American Dolly Butterfly Top.
Dolly Parton died at the age of 80 on Aug. 25, 2026. The venerated singer’s life was honored on Wednesday night with the “CMA Presents I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton,” featuring performances and tributes from country singers, including Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Ella Langley and more.
