UniCredit today announced the next milestone in the evolution of its securities services operating model, with the planned transfer of a dedicated business unit and the related hiring of 54 specialist colleagues from Société Générale Securities Services (SGSS) SpA in Italy to UniCredit, which is expected to become effective not earlier than January 2027, subject to completion of the applicable procedures and implementation steps.

The transfer supports the implementation of the bank's previously announced plan to internalise key back-office activities for securities services, establishing harmonised suppliers and processes across Italy and Germany and creating a more streamlined, resilient and scalable operating model.
The colleagues joining UniCredit are responsible for activities including "static" data management, corporate actions and ancillary securities settlement tasks. By moving these capabilities in-house, the bank is bringing key processes closer to its clients and supporting faster development of future operating capabilities.
The transfer also contributes to the creation of more than 200 roles associated with the securities services transformation programme. Alongside external recruitment, UniCredit continues to invest in internal reskilling and talent development as it builds the capabilities required to support future growth.
The initiative is being implemented in accordance with the agreements reached between UniCredit and SGSS.
Commenting on the initiative, Gianfranco Bisagni, Group Chief Operating Officer, UniCredit, said: "This move is an important milestone as we look to transform our securities services operations, bringing key expertise and capabilities closer to our clients and our organisation. We are committed to continue building the in-house capabilities and skills to support a simpler, more resilient and more efficient operating model across our markets."
