A former federal Attorney-General and serving Federal Circuit and Family Court (FCFC) judge has been named as the next head of the national anti-corruption watchdog.
Robert McClelland has been recommended as the next National Anti-Corruption Commissioner following the approval of a parliamentary joint committee.
The FCFC deputy chief justice, who was appointed to the bench by a Coalition government in 2015, also served as Labor’s federal member for Barton between 1996 and 2013.
He was Australia’s attorney-general during Kevin Rudd’s prime ministership from 2007 to 2011.
The government said McClelland was selected for his new appointment, commencing early next year, following an open, competitive and merit-based selection process.
