According to the Sindh EOC the total number of polio cases in 2026 in the country has reached seven. Out of the seven polio cases reported this year, five are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two from Sindh.
It added that the last polio case from Karachi was reported in December 2024.
It further said that polio is an incurable disease but it can be prevented through vaccination. The Sub-National Polio Vaccination Campaign will be conducted from 2 to 8 November 2026.
The EOC said that the campaign will be conducted in 97 districts across the country including all districts of Karachi. Over 23.9 million children under five years of age will be vaccinated against polio.
The EOC urged the parents to ensure that their children receive polio drops during every campaign and complete the full immunization course on time, alongside the polio vaccine.
All segments of society are urged to play their full part in supporting efforts to eradicate polio, it added.
