The historic Moroccan city of Fez once again becomes the global epicentre of spirituality and thought with the celebration of the 17th edition of the Festival of Sufi Culture.
Scheduled from 18 to 25 October, the event brings together prominent figures from the musical, artistic, and academic spheres representing diverse traditions to reflect and share experiences around a central theme: "Living poetically, art and spirituality".
A permanent bridge between Andalusia and Morocco
In this latest installment, the Three Cultures Foundation of the Mediterranean formally joins as a collaborating entity of the festival. Organised by the Fez Festival of Sufi Culture Association under the presidency of Faouzi Skalli, this institutional backing ratifies the Foundation's firm commitment to intercultural understanding, cultural diplomacy, and the enhancement of the shared historical and spiritual legacy between Andalusia and the Alawite kingdom.
The event is held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, an endorsement that highlights the institutional relevance and international reach of a gathering consolidated as a space of harmony among peoples.
A multidisciplinary programme in iconic locations
Over the course of eight intense days, the most iconic monuments and corners of the Fez medina transform into living stages for creation and debate. The agenda combines a diverse array of disciplines in a balanced manner:
- Concerts and musical performances: World music and mystical expressions showcasing the richness of Sufi brotherhoods.
- Panel discussions and lectures: Debate forums featuring thinkers, historians, and theologians analysing the relevance of Sufi thought in the contemporary world.
- Exhibitions and screenings: Visual showcases and film cycles linked to the region's aesthetic and spiritual heritage.
- Poetic gatherings: Recitals reviving the tradition of the spoken word as a vehicle for philosophical and human transmission.
Through this ambitious offering, the festival aims to demonstrate how art and spiritual heritage act as premier tools for building bridges, dispelling prejudices, and fostering mutual understanding beyond geographical or cultural borders.
