ESIC floats ₹134-crore tender for 100-bed hospital in Nellore

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has issued a tender notification for the construction of a 100-bed ESI hospital at the SPSR Nellore district headquarters at an estimated cost of ₹134 crore.

The deadline for submission of bids is November 3, 2026, at noon. The bids will be opened on November 4 at noon.

Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy has been pursuing the project for the past two years, citing the interests of local workers. “Once the 100-bed ESI hospital becomes operational, quality medical services will be accessible to thousands of unorganised sector workers and their families in the region,” he said.

In August 2024, Mr. Prabhakar Reddy wrote to the District Collector seeking the establishment of an ESI hospital in Nellore. He subsequently met Union Minister for Labour Mansukh Mandaviya in November 2024 and requested him to take steps to set up the hospital.

In August 2026, he met Mr. Mandaviya in New Delhi along with Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and urged him to expedite the tender process.

Responding to the request, Mr. Mandaviya directed the ESI Director General to invite tenders for the construction of the 100-bed hospital. The ESIC has now issued the tender notification.

Mr. Prabhakar Reddy said the hospital would play a key role in improving access to healthcare for workers and their families facing financial hardships. He thanked the Union government for facilitating progress on the project.
