Four concerts on Chris Brown and Usher's joint R&B Tour have been axed, with the cuts falling across Baltimore, Cincinnati, Columbia and Indianapolis. Cancellation notices landed in fans' inboxes on Friday, 9 October, adding to the drama already swirling around Brown ahead of a high-stakes court date in London later this month.
The tour promoter placed the blame squarely on physical strain, pointing to the gruelling demands of a large-scale stadium run.
"The demands of a tour of this length and scale are significant, and these adjustments will allow the tour to continue safely and sustainably through the remaining scheduled performances," the promoter said in a statement.
Which dates have Chris Brown and Usher cancelled?
The four scrapped shows were scheduled between 17 and 31 October at some of the country's biggest sporting venues. The full list of cancelled dates is:
- 17 October: M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland
- 24 October: Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio
- 29 October: Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina
- 31 October: Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana
What makes these particular shows notable is that none of them was part of the original tour schedule. All four cities were only added to the itinerary on 17 August, when organisers expanded the run to meet demand.
The timing of the cancellations has drawn attention beyond just disappointed ticket holders. Brown is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court in London on 26 October for his sentencing hearing, a date that falls squarely within the now-vacant stretch of the tour calendar.
In July, Brown entered a guilty plea to affray related to an incident at Tape nightclub in London in February 2023. Prosecutors alleged he struck music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle during the altercation. The original charges against him were more serious, covering assault and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, but those were dropped once he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.
Under UK law, affray carries a maximum custodial sentence of three years. Brown was released on bail following his plea and is required to return to the United Kingdom for the hearing.
