LEXINGTON — Kentucky basketball has tangled with Texas Tech five times. The Wildcats never have tasted defeat, owning a 5-0 mark.
Even if UK and coach Mark Pope wind up on the wrong side of the scoreboard tonight at Rupp Arena, it won't count. At least, not officially. That's because tonight is the second preseason exhibition for Kentucky. It won its exhibition opener by 20 points, 69-49, over Little Rock on Oct. 16 in Lexington.
The Cats have one more exhibition — Oct. 28 vs. Central Florida, also at Rupp — before they roll into the regular season, starting Nov. 2 against visiting Manhattan.

But tonight doubles as the Red Raiders' first, and only, preseason exhibition. After this, they'll rest up before tipping off the season against Jackson State on Nov. 2 in Lubbock, Texas.
While the Kentucky/Texas Tech clash won't show up in either team's win-loss column, it will be a battle of ranked clubs: TTU is No. 16 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll and 19th in the Associated Press Top 25; UK is No. 23 in both polls.
