3 Cowboys to blame for ugly Week 6 NSFW loss to Jordan Love, Packers appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Dallas Cowboys headed to Lambeau Field for a matchup between two all-time NFL powerhouses and were summarily defeated by Jordan Love’s team, on a night that included a crazy Dee Winters overturned interception. Ex-Packers DT Kenny Clark turned in a strong performance, but it wasn’t enough as the Packers won, 23-13.
The loss sent Dallas to 2-4 on the season and had fans wondering exactly who was to blame. The Cowboys’ defense certainly deserves some, but this night was mostly about the Cowboys’ anemic offense. Offensive coordinator Klayton Adams’ unit was mostly a no-show. Although Dak Prescott had a decent amount of passing yards, he failed to spark much excitement, or to keep up with Love and the Packers in another disappointing effort.
Here are three Cowboys to blame after Sunday night’s debacle at Lambeau Field.

Jerry Jones

The Cowboys owner has become a popular scapegoat for his team’s struggles and it’s easy to see why. Fans are livid at what feels like groundhog day seasons year-after-year in Big D. The so-called “America’s Team” Cowboys haven’t been to a Super Bowl since 1996 yet continue to get prime time slot after prime time slot, and to lose prime time game after prime time game.
As tired as Cowboys fans are losing big games, fans of other NFL teams are tired of seeing Jones’ team losing in prime time. Jones’ team is starting to resemble the Detroit Lions’ tradition of losing Thanksgiving games. Something isn’t right with Jones’ Cowboys, and there doesn’t appear to be an obvious fix.
If the Giants can turn things around with a new coach (John Harbaugh) and a backup QB (Jameis Winston), and Todd Monken can turn the Browns of all teams into a winner, Jones has no excuse. If Jones, who also serves as the team’s GM, can’t deliver a winner to Cowboys fans, he should take his hands off the steering wheel a bit and let someone else do it, because fans are tired of the same old thing.
Dak Prescott
Another game, another high yardage total and another high profile loss for the Cowboys’ starting quarterback. Prescott has been given a bounty of weapons in CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Javonte Williams and Jake Ferguson but isn’t getting the most out of them right now.
He threw for 258 yards but was also intercepted twice, something that can’t happen in a game of this magnitude on the road where ball security is of the utmost importance.
Prescott looked across the sidelines and saw Love, who has had a fairly similar career trajectory. Instead of using his guile, cunning, and experience to defeat his younger and greener adversary, he put forth an average effort that ended with another resounding thud at Lambeau Field.
Prescott is a household name among Cowboys and NFL fans, but he still hasn’t sniffed a Super Bowl. The Cowboys need to demand better play out of him as the best QBs in the league are capable of carrying their teams and getting the most out of their teammates, something Prescott simply didn’t do against Green Bay.
Javonte Williams
The Cowboys’ feature back finished with 11 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown, a disappointment for NFL fans, a disappointment for Cowboys fans and a disappointment for fantasy football players.
Williams’ 3.7 yards-per-carry average is about as low as it gets among feature backs on featured NFL teams, and it came at the worst possible time against a Packers team that was able to hold Dallas to 5-of-13 third-down conversions.
Williams has shown a lot of raw talent and lightning speed dating back to his days with Denver. Cowboys fans have had hope for a surge toward the top of the running back heap, but he has to play better if Dallas is going to win big games. The Cowboys need playmakers and if Williams isn’t holding up his end of the bargain, it might be time for Jones, or whoever fills in at GM, to look at new options in the draft or free agency after this season.
Ultimately, the Cowboys didn’t get it done in a road loss that felt like watching the same old thing NFL and Cowboys have have grown accustomed to for years. A pregame tiff showed something isn’t quite right in Dallas as frustrations mount.
Jones cares about the Cowboys franchise as much as anyone, but he is clearly holding his franchise back, as evidenced in Week 6’s latest loss. If he can’t deliver another Super Bowl trip soon, it will be time for him to step down and watch from a luxury suite because Cowboys fans are getting fed up with watching the same disappointing results, week-after-week.
