Inde Navarrette auditioned for Heat 2 for "two months" - but she ultimately missed out on the role.
The 25-year-old actress was rumoured to have rejected a role in the long-awaited sequel to the 1995 crime film Heat - but Inde insists that wasn't the case and that she was very keen on the project.
Asked about the speculation on The Kyle Buchanan Show podcast, Inde explained: "I’m glad that you brought it up because I can say it. No, I was not offered Heat 2.
"I auditioned, I want to say, for two months from April all the way up until — I don’t know if it had gotten cast, but it was just kind of no longer a conversation."
Inde admits she would've jumped at the chance to star in the movie, explaining that she just wanted to "learn".
The actress said: "I remember I sent in multiple self tapes, different self tapes. I was like, ‘What do you like? What do you not like?’ I mean, it’s with an insane cast and even if it was as small of a character. I just wanted to learn. Definitely didn’t say no.
"That’s one of those opportunities where no matter how big you get, you’re still gonna get told no."
Meanwhile, Inde recently admitted that she's been using her X-Men role as an "excuse to get in the gym".
The actress has been cast as Rogue in the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, and she is excited to get to grips with an action role.
Inde told Variety: "I've always wanted to take part in that sort of a thing.
"I think it's also a really good excuse to get in the gym! I'm the laziest person, and I am very excited to get up and moving with my body.
"I think it's just a beautiful project."
Navarrette - whose breakout role came in the horror blockbuster Obsession - is "so excited" to be joining the superhero franchise.
She said: "I am just so excited to be a part of that world, and it's an honour to play Rogue! I'm a really big fan."
The character was previously played by Anna Paquin across 20th Century Fox's X-Men film series from 2000 to 2014.
Asked if she'd had any conversations with her predecessor, Navarrette admitted she has been a fan of Anna for a long time.
She said: "I feel like the correspondence started when I was younger, when I really well in love with the X-Men movies in the first place.
"I just feel like she did such a good job, and I really loved those movies growing up. And I'm really honoured to kind of put forth this next moment."
