Nii Okai, the Ghanaian endurance runner known on TikTok as Nii The Menace, has completed a 240km run from the University of Ghana, Legon, to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, covering the distance on foot over seven days to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the leading cancer among women in Ghana, and most cases here are found late.
Worldwide, the World Health Organization estimates that 2.3 million women were diagnosed with the disease in 2022 and 670,000 died of it.
Okai set off on Monday, 12 October, and posted a video from the road every evening until his seventh and final update on Sunday night.

He tied every post to “pink October” and to screening. “Doing this run for all women out there to create awareness to get screened,” he wrote on the fifth day.
In his final post he thanked his sponsors, Ecobank Ghana, Munchee Biscuit Ghana, Ofosu Mensah and Sons, and Win Energy. Okai, who describes himself as a wellness enthusiast and endurance athlete and runs a running-gear store, Runner’s Haven, is not the gospel musician of the same name.
In early August he posted a 60km cross-regional run from North Legon to Koforidua.
His TikTok account, @the.nii.okai, has about 13,400 followers.
