Liverpool are currently ninth in the Premier League.
Before Sunday's 3-0 defeat against Manchester City, they were only six points adrift of the top spot but now, they're nine.
Leeds, Hull, Brentford and even Everton are ahead of Liverpool in England's top flight which, for a team of their quality, is hugely disappointing.
That is, especially after they spent over £150 million on new players this summer.
Thanks to this poor form, questions have been asked about what the future holds for the Reds' squad and, despite the number of changes that they've made, it's clear that they still need to welcome some new players to Anfield.
Many different players from several positions have been linked with a switch and, now that the January window is edging closer, the rumour mill is starting to turn.
Liverpool would have to beat Borussia Dortmund to the transfer of Paris Brunner
As mentioned, several players have already been linked with Liverpool.
There are multiple positions among their attack that could do with an upgrade or two but, since they've spent so much money recently, every deal needs to count.
Whether they're brought in to prepare for the future or upgrade the starting XI, they can't afford to not make the deals worthwhile.
This is why so many different players are being linked with L4 as, the more options they have, the more certain that Liverpool can be.
However, as with every transfer saga, other clubs usually want the same targets and, as per a fresh update from Sky Germany journalist Patrick Berger, Borussia Dortmund have "matching rights" for AS Monaco's Paris Brunner.
"According to Borussia Dortmund, following Sky reports, they hold a matching right for Paris Brunner," he wrote.
"Dortmund can therefore theoretically match any offer that comes in for the striker in Monaco, under the same conditions."
Paris Brunner would probably be another signing for the future, rather than now
At the moment, Liverpool's attack is one of the main things that is letting them down.
Cody Gakpo has easily been their best forward but, since he's now out of action for a decent chunk of time, Liverpool are going to have to rely on other members of their squad to step up.
For example, Lewis Koumas started his first Premier League game for Liverpool against Man City on Sunday and, even though they didn't win, his pressing was a sight to behold.
Of course, Isak is their main striker but with Hugo Ekitike set to return in early 2027, they'll have even more firepower at their disposal.
And, as good as Koumas is, it's unclear whether he'll be good enough to regularly start.
This is why other strikers, including Brunner, who Jurgen Klopp loves, are currently being linked.
Brunner is only 20 years old so he has a lot of growing to do but, if Liverpool need him to turn up now, his six goals this season prove that he can do that.
Here's hoping that, if Liverpool do actually want to sign the youngster that they can beat Dortmund to his transfer and offer him a stronger deal.
