Former NFL wide receiver Tyreek Hill was found liable on two of 10 counts related to domestic violence in a civil trial on Tuesday night, according to The Athletic.
As a result, a jury awarded Hill’s estranged wife $500,000 in compensatory damages as the trial came to a close in Miami.
Hill was found liable on just two of the incidents that included physical evidence. His wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro Hill, alleged that Hill physically abused her after an argument the two got into over a postnuptial agreement that Hill wanted her to sign. There was a photograph shown at the trial that showed a long scratch between her upper chest and neck, per the report. That incident occurred on Jan. 10, 2024.
The second incident took place on April 7, 2025. Hill was spotted on a nanny cam shouting at Vacarro. The incident ended up spilling over into their daughter’s room while she was asleep, and Hill’s mom called 911 during the incident and told the dispatcher that he had tried to grab their daughter and leave the condo before she got between them.
"I've been in this cycle with him for so long, being pregnant and realizing, what am I going to do? How am I going to get myself out of this," Vaccaro testified in the trial. "[The abuse] got worse and worse and worse. And it got to a point where, now I'm a new mom. I have to think of her. I have to think about what I'm putting myself through."
Vaccaro has filed for divorce.
The jury found Hill not liable for the other eight counts that were brought up at the civil trial, which included battery, continuing domestic violence and assault. Among other things, Vaccaro alleged at trial that Hill attempted to punch her in the stomach while she was pregnant with their child, that he grabbed and twisted her breasts and once “ended up throwing or shoving” an unlit cigar butt in her mouth.
Hill denied most of the allegations made against him during the trial. He did admit to telling Vaccaro that he could “get people to hurt her” and once pushing her against a wall with such force that it created a hole in the wall, per The Athletic.
Hill has been working to make a return to the NFL, potentially even reuniting with the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent six seasons with the franchise and helped them win Super Bowl LIV. Hill hasn’t played since his split with the Dolphins in February, which came after a gruesome knee injury.
It’s unclear if Hill would face discipline from the league now that his trial is over. An NFL spokesperson told The Athletic on Tuesday night after the verdict that the league has been “monitoring developments in the matter which remains under review of the personal conduct policy.”
The NFL’s policy does not require criminal charges for a player to be disciplined. But as Hill is currently a free agent, any discipline the league does hand down wouldn’t kick in until he signs with a new team.
