SEPANG: Supporters wearing black T-shirts bearing the image of Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain gathered outside the magistrate's court today to show their support for the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) director-general.
Supporter Zarif Syarafuddin, 24, said they regarded Shuhaily as a national hero.
"We come to show our support. He is a national hero to us. A true hero, who is deeply honest and trustworthy in defending the nation," he said.
Zarif arrived at the court at 9am with several other supporters representing a non-governmental organisation.
Earlier today, Shuhaily pleaded not guilty to two counts of voluntarily causing hurt to Lance Corporals Muhammad Ekmal Sofwan Driman and Mohammad Faiz Muhamad Saman, 40, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 on Sept 28.
The charges, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, carry a maximum jail term of one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
His lawyer, Datuk Rosal Azimin Ahmad, said Shuhaily would remain as MCBA director-general unless instructed otherwise.
