MILAN — The holiday season is fast approaching and Mytheresa and Dolce & Gabbana want their customers to be ready for it.
On Wednesday, the luxury multibrand digital platform operated by LuxExperience and the Italian fashion house will unveil the second chapter of the Dolce & Gabbana x Mytheresa Holiday capsule collection.
“Dolce & Gabbana was one of the first luxury houses with which we developed an exclusive capsule, and since 2017, our partnership has grown into a truly special relationship, with more than 10 collections created together,” said Francis Belin, chief executive officer of Mytheresa. “What has always inspired us is the house’s unique ability to translate its creative vision into something deeply connected to a place, its culture and a particular moment in time.”
Belin cited, for example, a collection presented with a live show in Portofino’s scenic Piazzetta, and a “truly theatrical finale as the models boarded boats and sailed out of the harbor against the backdrop of live music, including a tenor performing iconic Italian songs, and each moment captured the essence of Italian glamour.”
He recalled other initiatives held in Capri, Taormina, and most recently, in Sardinia’s Porto Cervo, at the luxury Hotel Cala di Volpe. “These events are an integral part of our partnership: they allow us to go beyond the collection itself and create meaningful experiences that connect our customers with the brand and the places that inspire it,” said Belin. “Ultimately, we have built more than a product collaboration; we have created a shared world of exclusivity, culture and experiences, which is what makes this partnership so enduring.”
Asked about the reasons for such a long-standing collaboration, Stefano Cantino, co-CEO of Dolce & Gabbana, said “the strength of the relationship comes from a clear understanding of the respective role of each partner. Dolce & Gabbana brings a distinctive and highly recognizable creative identity, while Mytheresa combines a deep understanding of its luxury customer with the ability to curate and position the brand within its global platform.”
Indeed, the new womenswear capsule expresses the brand’s signature codes and tailoring expertise with a lineup of feminine looks — sculptural minidresses, floor-length gowns and voluminous evening skirts.
Sparkling metallic accents and starry motifs light up a halter dress, a sophisticated pajama pantsuit or a sheer chiffon gown with billowing sleeves, and sequins shine on a short sleeveless dress through a festive lens.
A range of structured handbags and sparkling clutches, chokers and earrings, strappy sandals and embellished stilettos also embellished with the brand’s star motif complement the collection.
Belin said Dolce & Gabbana is an ideal match for Mytheresa because the brand “embodies a very particular vision of Italy: its beauty, its sensuality, its celebration and its instinctive appreciation for the pleasures of life. These values resonate deeply with Mytheresa, where we believe luxury should be about more than acquiring something beautiful; it should also evoke an emotion and create a lasting memory. There is a natural affinity between the house’s unmistakable identity and our approach to curation, exclusivity and highly personalized customer experiences.”
Cantino concurred, saying “the response has been consistently positive over the years and the continuity of this partnership demonstrates its relevance. Mytheresa.com combines global reach with deep customer knowledge and a highly focused approach to curation. For Dolce & Gabbana, this provides the right environment to develop exclusive projects that remain true to the brand while engaging a highly relevant international luxury audience.”
Belin believes Mytheresa customers are drawn to Dolce & Gabbana’s recognizable Italian spirit, “its bold femininity and its ability to make every piece feel truly special. They value the house’s distinctive codes, exceptional craftsmanship and expressive designs, particularly when translated into exclusive creations.”
He sees even more opportunities ahead and “tremendous potential” through the immersive experiences building on the brand’s womenswear, menswear, kidswear and home collections.
Cantino touted a “consistently positive” response from Mytheresa customers over the years “and the continuity of this partnership demonstrates its relevance.” Targeting a luxury consumer who is familiar with the brand and “expects both consistency and exclusivity,” the challenge “is therefore to remain coherent on our identity while continuing to offer something distinctive,” said the executive. “With this new capsule collection, we have worked around this idea, translating the Dolce & Gabbana codes into an unexpected proposition conceived for the festive season.”
To wit, Belin said that the capsule follows a celebration at Casa Cipriani in New York in November last year, which marked the beginning of this new holiday chapter in the partnership with Dolce & Gabbana, and that Mytheresa will “continue to build on our shared ambition to create something truly special for our customers, extending the magic of this collaboration beyond the summer season and into the most celebratory time of the year.”
Asked about the strength of Mytheresa, Cantino said it “combines global reach with deep customer knowledge and a highly focused approach to curation. For Dolce & Gabbana, this provides the right environment to develop exclusive projects that remain true to the brand while engaging a highly relevant international luxury audience.”
The capsule launches with a dedicated editorial story featuring model Paola Manes, photographed by Lukasz Pukowiec.
