Real Madrid maintained their 100 per cent record in the UEFA Champions League group stage with a commanding 4-1 home win over RB Leipzig on Wednesday to boost their position in the race for top eight place.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring late in the first half before Arda Güler doubled Real Madrid’s advantage shortly after the break. Kylian Mbappe added a third, while Tidiam Gomis pulled one back for Leipzig before Yan Diomande completed Los Blancos’ victory with a late volley.

The result gave Real Madrid a third consecutive Champions League win and extended their winning run across all competitions to four matches, providing a confidence boost ahead of Sunday’s La Liga Clásico against Barcelona.

“We know every point is important to get into the top eight. We know we have to win as many games as possible. We’ve won three, and there are five to go,” Mbappé told Movistar.
The French forward, who is targeting the Ballon d’Or, has scored in each of Madrid’s Champions League matches this season and has 12 goals in 12 appearances.
“I’m doing well, but I think I can do more,” Mbappé said. “I’m one of the few players who always has to demand more from himself. Right now, it’s a good moment, but we have to keep going, and I have to do more.”
Madrid, who have endured an inconsistent domestic campaign, will hope their European form carries into the meeting with bitter rivals Barcelona. The Spanish champions have made a strong start in Europe, in contrast to Barcelona, who lost to PSG on Tuesday.
Real Madrid will now turn their attention to Sunday’s El Clásico against Barcelona before returning to Champions League action against AEK Athens in Greece.
