The Denver Broncos are struggling to maintain momentum in the 2026 NFL season. The organization’s quarterback, Bo Nix, has been facing scrutiny because of his recent performances, with questions being raised about his decision-making, composure under pressure, and ability to deliver in crucial moments.
A heated debate emerged involving former quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib as they discussed the quarterback. Talib was seen talking about Fitzpatrick’s comments on Nix’s performance.
Sherman Calls Talib’s Reaction to Fitzpatrick Unnecessary
In a recent episode of the “Richard Sherman Podcast”, Super Bowl champion Richard Sherman shared his views on the debate, describing Talib’s explosive response as “unnecessary” and saying:
“I’ve seen some other stuff on the internet. I mean, I saw Fitz’s video to Tlaib after Tlaib tried to get on Fitz about what Fitz said about Bo Nix’s performance. I don’t know what you want in that situation. Bo Nix didn’t play well, and he hasn’t played very well this season. He’s thrown for under 200 yards four times this season alone. It’d be different if you were defending a performance where a guy just had an off day. He’s having an off season right now.
“I thought what Fitz did was hilarious. I thought… What Lee did was unnecessary. You can talk about Fitz’s career and ups and downs and whether he won games or not, et cetera, et cetera, but he’s had some stretches where he’s played some outstanding football, thrown for 400 multiple times. I mean, I want to say he threw for 1,200 yards in three weeks at one point. I don’t know if you’ll ever find a stretch of Bo Nix playing that kind of football. He should be playing better. He should have more yardage, and he doesn’t. And if you can’t criticize that, then there’s no point of having a job.”
Fitzpatrick shared his views on the quarterback’s performance, as fans are expecting a lot from the young quarterback. On the other hand, former Broncos cornerback Talib is known for his strong football opinions. The disagreement has added another layer to the discussion surrounding Nix and the expectations placed on him.
The coming weeks will be critical for the organization, and the discussion ultimately returns to Nix and his development as a quarterback. One bad performance can intensify scrutiny, while strong outings can quickly change the narrative. Nix will need to show greater consistency to reassure fans and silence some of his critics as the Broncos continue their campaign.
The debate also highlights the pressure that comes with being a starting quarterback in the NFL. Nix entered the league with high expectations, and fans are eager to see him establish himself as a reliable leader for Denver.
