After leads were squandered in the fourth quarter in back-to-back games against Indiana and Oregon, many fans were dejected. Many fans were downright broken, vowing they were “done” with Nebraska football.
But now it’s the bye week, which means we get to agonize over fourth quarter collapses for an extra seven days. We get to soak in trying to find one more win on the schedule to become bowl-eligible, let alone three wins to show improvement. We get to realize that we aren’t quite as far along as we thought and that we’ll never conquer the big dogs, that we don’t know how to use timeouts, and that we have a coach who seemingly threw his players under the bus with his “I’m not out there playing” line. We get to torture ourselves with figuring out how buy-outs work.
OR…it’s a football game and we can instead keep in mind the Huskers who we will miss in the near future due to injury. We can acknowledge that while Oregon fell from grace after the injury to Dante Moore, they have a stern defense and were at one point a top-five team and a CFP favorite.
Loving the Huskers is like loving your kids. You love them no matter what, but you don’t always like their actions.
So anyway, the trio will discuss that and have a new Five Heart Theatre for you. Join us.
This is our coping mechanism.
