KARACHI: South District Police raided the residence of Azad Khan Jakhrani, brother of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, in Khayaban-e-Rahat, DHA Phase VI, Karachi, on Wednesday.
According to reports, police faced resistance during the raid, leading to a heated exchange between the SHO and the residence’s security staff. Video footage shows Mumtaz Jakhrani attempting to prevent police from entering the house.
The police later left the premises following the confrontation with the security personnel.
The family alleged that the raid was carried out at the behest of MNA Aijaz Jakhrani.
In a video message from Saudi Arabia, Azad Jakhrani accused his brother of harassing the family to satisfy his personal ego. He also alleged that Aijaz Jakhrani wanted to deny them their share in the family property.
Khalid Jakhrani also alleged that the dispute stemmed from the family’s property and inheritance issues.
When ARY News contacted police, officials were unable to explain what information had prompted the raid or why the residence had been targeted. However, they only said legal action would be taken over any obstruction of official duties.
Meanwhile, Aijaz Jakhrani denied having any knowledge of the raid, saying that Azad must have done something that prompted the police action.
He said Azad and Khalid were his half-brothers and that he had no association with them.
Aijaz Jakhrani further accused Azad of involvement in drug-related activities, adding that he had severed ties with him and had announced the estrangement on social media.
