Bermudian Zakkiyah R. Daniels has developed BotOut, a “tool designed to help writers identify and address patterns that may cause original human-written work to be incorrectly flagged as AI-generated.”
A spokesperson said, “A student submits original work. A job seeker sends a carefully written application. A writer delivers a polished manuscript. An AI detector returns a score: 95% AI-generated.
“The system does not know who wrote the work. It sees patterns :formal language, consistency, structure, vocabulary, predictability, and makes a statistical guess. When that guess is wrong, a human being can lose time, opportunity, credibility, or peace of mind defending work they actually created.
“Bermudian Barrister-at-Law and former English lecturer Zakkiyah R. Daniels has builtBotOut, the first Mis-AI-Dentity Risk Checker, a false-positive pre-check designed to help human writers see why their original work may be mistaken for AI, before they submit it.”
“A detector can generate a percentage in seconds, ” said Zakkiyah Daniels. “The person behind that percentage may spend months proving they’re human .In law, you have a right to know the case against you. A black-box score should never become a verdict. “
A spokesperson added, “AI detectors do not know who wrote a piece of text. They look for patterns: word choice, sentence structure, consistency, formality, and predictability.
“The problem is that clear, polished human writing can share some of those same patterns. A detector can mistake strong writing for AI, even when every word is genuinely someone’s own. That is a Mis-AI-Dentity: a bot mistaking human work for AI, with a grade, a job, a reputation, or an opportunity on the line.
“BotOut is not a paraphrasing tool or a “humanizer. ” Other tools help text look human.BotOut helps human writing avoid being misidentified as AI.
“The platform is a pre-submission diagnostic. It highlights the words, phrases, and sentence patterns most likely to trigger an AI-detector score, explains those signals in plain language, and lets writers review and adjust their own work, without surrendering their voice to an automated rewrite.”
Rather than raising venture capital or assembling a traditional engineering team, Zakkiyah Daniels relocated to Vietnam, taught herself advanced AI application engineering, and built the entire platform herself using a full AI development stack powered by Anthropic’s Claude. “I used AI to build this because I believe AI should be accountable to the people it affects, ” said Zakkiyah Daniels. “The same technology that can make an accusation should also help explain it, test it, and give people a meaningful way to respond. “
A spokesperson added, “Having proven that a single person can build production-grade AI software without a computer science degree or a Silicon Valley dev team, Daniels is making her workflow accessible to everyday Bermudians.
“Through mentorship and MVP co-building, she is helping local entrepreneurs, creators, and professionals take their app ideas out of their heads and launch real, functional software using modern AI stacks.”
“Bermuda does not need to wait for Silicon Valley permission to build world-class technology, ” said Zakkiyah Daniels. “If you have a problem worth solving, AI development tools make it possible to build the solution yourself. I am here to show local founders how to do it. “
