A fire that broke out at Shiksha Bhawan in Agartala on Thursday triggered a prompt emergency response from police and Fire and Emergency Services, helping avert a potentially serious situation. The blaze was reported at around 11:45 am and is suspected to have originated in the building's electrical panel area.
According to officials, police personnel immediately reached the spot after the fire was detected and secured the affected area to ensure the safety of those present and facilitate firefighting operations. The quick intervention helped prevent panic and maintain order within the premises.
The State Project Manager of Yuva Aapda Mitra (YAM), North East Region, also assisted in the emergency response by helping with the evacuation process and ensuring that access routes remained clear for firefighters and emergency personnel.
Fire and Emergency Services teams subsequently arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control after a coordinated operation. Their timely intervention, supported by police and YAM officials, prevented the fire from spreading further.
Preliminary information suggests that the fire may have started near the electrical panel section of the building, though the exact cause is yet to be determined. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed assessment to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
No immediate information regarding injuries, the extent of property damage or disruption to official activities was available. The incident, however, has once again highlighted the importance of regular maintenance of electrical installations, safety audits and preparedness measures in public buildings to minimise risks and ensure effective handling of emergencies.
