Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers trailed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13-3 at halftime in Tampa on Sunday. The deficit was troubling for the AFC franchise, considering that the Baker Mayfield-less Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the worst teams in the NFL, with a 1-4 record.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has had a difficult afternoon, throwing for just 78 yards, with one interception. His completion percentage has been 63.1%. Pittsburgh’s only points came through a 52-yard field goal at the end of the second quarter, after a first attempt that was blocked but was retaken.
Steelers reporter Andrew Fillipponi believes all of this bodes badly for the team, sharing his opinion on X:
“Aaron Rodgers bad body language. Self-inflicted wounds. A blocked FG that somehow was still good. I don’t like any of this. Bad omens,” Fillipponi wrote.
A defeat would move the Steelers to 3-3, with Pittsburgh having beaten Atlanta, Cincinnati and Indianapolis this year. They have fallen to New England and Cleveland. Last week, they defeated the visiting Colts 34-22.
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike McCarthy spends halftime in medical tent with apparent ankle injury
According to a report by a local Tampa Bay outlet specializing in the Buccaneers, Steelers coach Mike McCarthy spent halftime receiving attention in the medical tent after hurting his ankle at some point towards the end of the first half.
Here’s what Pewter Report wrote on X:
“Woah. Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy twisted his ankle at the end of the half and spent the entire halftime inside the blue medical tent. He is going to continue coaching, per the CBS Sports broadcast.”
He’s expected to continue coaching through the second half.
