The Brooklyn Nets have signed, drafted, and traded for players from virtually every state in the US, and much of the wider world beyond the United States. From Alabama to Wyoming, and from Australia to Ukraine, the Nets have a long and distinguished history of turning over every stone to find the talent needed to succeed in the NBA.
From their start in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as the New Jersey Americans and New York Nets to their jump to the NBA as the New Jersey Nets right through to today, the organization has cast their net for talent wide since the inception of the ball club.
For this installment of our series documenting the provenience of every Nets player to suit up for the franchise, let's take a look at every player from Alabama who has played for Brooklyn.
Our focus in this article is Larry Kenon. An alum of Ullman high school, Amarillo College, and Memphis, he was picked up with the 50th overall selection of the 1973 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.
The Birmingham native played the first 2 seasons of his pro career with the ABA's (then) New York Americans (now, Brooklyn Nets), coming to an end when he was dealt to the San Antonio Spurs in 1975.
During his time suiting up for the Nets, Kenon put up 17.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
