Costco selling Ottawa Senators tickets

There’s not too much you can’t find at Costco; from computers to clothing to bucket-sized cans of tomatoes, the wholesaler’s a one-stop shop for many.

Now you can buy Ottawa Senators tickets there as well, according to BlogTO.

Costco announced earlier this month that it has started selling tickets to Ottawa Senators games on its website, alongside some of its locations across Ontario and Gatineau: Kanata, Nepean, Barrhaven, Gloucester and Kingston.

Not a bad deal, either: Costco is selling a pair of tickets for lower-bowl seats to the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, parking passes included for $249.99.

Leafs? Not so cheap

Compare that to Leafs tickets, where a comparable seat at Scotiabank Arena will run you about $300 to start before taxes, and that’s for an obstructed view. The price of those seats can exponentially rise depending on who’s in town: A ticket to see the Leafs play an Original Six rival such as Boston or Montreal can run you $1,000 a seat.

The cheap seats aren’t cheap at all. Standing room only for the Leafs reportedly starts at $160 before tax, with the nosebleeds starting around $185, according to Streets of Toronto.

Fans unhappy

The sky-high prices have Leaf fans seeing red (though these days, what doesn’t?). And they’ve taken to Instagram to say as much.

Instagram user rickrowley3 says: “$268 bones to stand?! Can’t even sit down! If you sit, they will kick you out. Do these tickets come with a gummy too or what?! Look at this one! $300 bones for obstructed view. What’s that even mean? Is that like f—in’ 50%?”

Of course, if enough Leaf fans feel that way, they can always swallow their pride, head up north to an Ottawa-area Costco, grab Sens tickets and save a couple of bucks.
